In a very brief article, John Perrotto of BP confirms whispers we've been hearing for about 48 hours now: The Nats are considering ousting GM Jim Bowden and replacing him with Toronto Ass't GM Tony LaCava.

MLBTradeRumors.com had it up today too, giving props to Federal Baseball and Fire Jim Bowden for their leg work in making the information available yesterday. Nats Farm Authority posted some information about a few GM candidates, LaCava included.

I think the best line I've read about the possibility of the switch came from FJB, talking to the Natoshpere's new favorite nationally syndicated internet writer, Keith Law, who said (through FJB),

"going from Jim Bowden to Tony LaCava would be like going from Austin Kearns to Albert Pujols."

This information makes one wonder if the time Stan Kasten was spending in Toronto this off-season was interviewing for a job, or doing the interviewing?

you know ABM, first of all the "mother's basement" comment is uncalled for. you spend an awful lot of time and effort reading these blogs, so for you to belittle the people writing them is fairly hypocritical.

next, Baseball Propectus is one of the baseball industry's most respected publications, so if they are running with the story i have to assume it's legit.

you're just going to have to trust that some of us got the information from a source and then went and got independent confirmation of the information.

or not. take it for what you think it's worth.

but i strongly object to you referring to me and my brethren in the Natosphere as blogging from our "mother's basements". it's infantile, petty and disrespectful.

sorry if i have a problem with the "mother's basement" comment, it really bugs me.

i don't think i have a thin skin, ABM. certainly not compared to others that block and filter comments on their blogs.

i just have a real problem with that insult, that's all.

Dave - Don't waste your time on ABM. He hasn't updated his "blog" since 2008, most likely due to the fact that this is what he does all day (name-calling, condescending comments, etc).

Keep up the good work, Dave.

ABM, i do welcome your comments, which is why i don't censor the comments that come into my blog like some do.

i took offense to the "mother's basement" crack, i realize it's a hot button for me. i'm sorry if you think i over-reacted. but just as i respect your opinion enough to allow you to post without censor, so i would hope you'd respect my feelings that that phrase makes me feel insulted.

we don't have to agree, but i'd hope for mutual respect.

    thanks.
