Nats starter Jason Marquis was lit up in the first inning of today's game, allowing seven earned runs on four hits, one walk and two hit batters without retiring a batter.

He threw just 13 strikes in 28 pitches.

Miguel Batista came in an allowed a grand slam to light-hitting Craig Counsel.  It was Counsel's third grand slam of his MLB career.

Marquis' appearance was the first time in Nationals' history for a staring pitcher to not record an out.
