This may be the best thing to happen to the Nats! Look what happened to the Cleveland Indians and Red Sox once they made a movie about them!!

Bill Ladson
reports that Sony Pictures reps came to watch the Nationals at Dodger Stadium yesterday.

James L. Brooks is working on a romantic comedy tentatively titled How Do You Know? about a Nationals relief pitcher played by Owen Wilson. Paul Rudd will play the part of a businessman vying for Reese Witherspoon's affections, while Wilson is slated for the role of a professional baseball pitcher out to steal her heart.

Owen Wilson wants to learn pitchers routines and what a typical day is like in the bullpen. It sounds like Wilson
met with the Texas Rangers in April. Rangers relief pitcher Eddie Guardado said, "We'll teach him a few things. We’ll teach him how to chew the bubblegum, spit the seeds and hold the cup…” C.J. Wilson added, “He’ll learn some authentic lingo. He’ll have a chance to learn proper baseball vernacular for his movie, which is extremely rare. Most baseball movies are inauthentic in that respect.”

Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer, with the crew filming on location in DC for about a month. Maybe fans will get lucky and make it onto the big screen!

According to imdb, the film is scheduled to be released in December 2009 and features original music by Hans Zimmer. With a including Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon and Owen Wilson, I am ready to buy my ticket now.

I just wonder....will this be more "Major League" or "Fever Pitch?" Either way, things looked up for the Cleveland Indians and Red Sox once they made a movie about them! They even changed the ending of Fever Pitch because of the [unfortunate] outcome of the 2004 World Series. Hope the movie has the same effect on the Washington Nationals!

I read about this in the Post this morning. What a riot. Maybe some Nats will be in the movie too.

I was thinking along the same lines a bit and I agree the 2004 WS outcome was unfortunate.

I have a bad feeling that they will film the "crowd" scenes during the Red Sox series because it will be full. The only good thing that could come of that is making Red Sox fans wear Nats gear if they want to be in the movie! LOL.

It would be fun if some of the Nats players are in the movie. And Nats fans! :)
